BANGI, Sept 12 - Khairul Amirin Khairudin, a student of Bachelor of Agricultural Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), won the Trading Entrepreneurship Challenge (TRADEC’19).

Khairul Amirin triumphed in TRADEC'19 through his company, Kaorin Resources. He received a business grant of RM1500 and a Special Jury Award worth RM300.

He had the inspiration when he took part in the mobility programme at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT), Japan for six months at the end of last year. He was exposed to various latest agricultural technologies that can be utilised in Malaysia.

He started with zero cost of capital through trading agricultural products such as hydroponics and several others and earned a start-up capital of RM500.

He said that with the capital, he started to buy goods and tools to make his own products, and his business grew bigger gradually.

“I urge all people especially youth to have an awareness of the importance of having knowledge in entrepreneurship, as it is not just to be an entrepreneur but also to be mature and able to adapt to changes.

"Having knowledge in entrepreneurship such as soft skills and business skills can provide extra points in the marketability of graduates in the future," he said.

He also hoped that existing agencies are willing to provide youth with the opportunities and space to join the business world especially in the field of agriculture.

The award ceremony for TRADEC'19 was organised by the University Community Transformation Centre (UCTC), UPM, which has a five-year experience and has successfully produced 88 new entrepreneurs in various fields of business.

The main objective of implementing TRADEC'19 is to create a reality programme for entrepreneurship challenge where university students are directly involved in the comprehensive module in e-commerce.

The Trading Entrepreneurship Challenge 2019 (TRADEC'19) is one of the many ways to produce more successful entrepreneurs among UPM students in the field of commerce, especially in e-commerce, who will provide impact and benefits to the government, community and industry. - UPM
