Introduction

The Occupational Safety and Health Committee (JKKP) of the Faculty of Agriculture was established in 2005. Currently the JKKP consists of 33 members chaired by the Deputy Dean (PJIM) as Chairman, the Senior Deputy Registrar as Secretary, 3 Senior Assistant Registrars as Assistant Secretaries, 3 Executive Officers, 12 employer representatives, 12 employee representatives. JKKP plays an important role in ensuring that safety and health aspects are the main focus when performing any daily activity. Various activities and strategies have been organized to increase safety awareness among the staff and students of the Faculty of Agriculture. JKKP is also responsible for providing information to increase the level of awareness about occupational safety and health to all staff and students of the UPM Faculty of Agriculture.

Objectives

•To help the main committee at UPM to adhere to the rules of safety and health (Occupational Safety and Health Committee) 1996
•To carry out safety and health programmes at the Faculty
•To monitoring Occupational Safety and Health performance at the Faculty
•To report safety and health issues to the main committee  

Functions  

•Carry out regular inspection at the work place
•Report any unsafe conditions, accidents, near miss, occupational diseases and poisoning
•Inspec and help OSH Section in investigating any incident related to OSH after accident, near miss, •occupational diseases and poisoning happen at the Faculty.
•Discuss accident reports
•Suggest improvements and corrective actions to the risks at work place.
•Review against OSH actions or practice and suggest improvement to main committee, UPM
•Keep records regarding OSH
•Report the above activities to the main committee regularly through OSH Section, Registrar Office.
•Helping the main committee in implementing the functions regarding OSH activities to promote adherence to the safe and healthy working.
