Departments of Plant Protection emphasizes on education and technology towards solving pest problems using sustainable and integrated approaches. The approach undertaken is through the use of natural control agents strengthened using applied control measures such as cultural and biological. Major disciplines include entomology, plant pathology, weed science, pest management and vertebrate pest control.

The departments academic and support staff members are well qualified in their various fields of discipline. Courses in entomology, plant pathology and weed science are taught with emphasis on biology and management of pests and diseases. Research activities are focused on exploitation of natural and biological control agents integrated with chemical means. Laboratories are fitted with up-to-date equipments for teaching and research in microbiology, plant pathology, entomology, hematology and toxicology.
